Gaming on a Budget: 3D Dot Game Heroes & Muramasa: The Demon Blade

3D Dot Game Heroes
Price New: $15.03

Yes I know I already covered the Atlus sale from 2 weeks back but these two games feature fairly atypical graphical styles and are just plain fun games. Get 3D Dot Game Heroes if you are interested in a classic Zelda style game with 3D retro graphics with plenty of in-jokes for those in the know. Get Muramasa if you just like a good hack 'n' slash with RPG elements and a hand-drawn art style that is a increasingly rare thing nowadays.

Muramasa: The Demon Blade
Price New: $12.83

And a bonus new game:

Portal 2 (PS3, 360, PC)
Price New: $34.99 (PS3/360), $29.99 (PC)

I can't recommend this game enough. Portal 2 expands on everything the first Portal offered and makes them better. Not only that is hilarious. And us PS3/PC folks can play it cross platform which is pretty damned neat. I don't know how long this particular sale will last so get it now.

Gaming on a Budget: Amazon Atlus Monday Sale

Since our noble leader Paleo is down with a case of computer failure, I'll at least do one day of Gaming on a Budget for his sake and I choose:

If you are a fan of Atlus and RPGs and want to pick up a few on the cheap now may be a good time to do it as several of their most recent games are marked down a hefty bit. I'd personally recommend Persona 4 and 3D Dot Game Heroes. Or if you are really weird the party game collections they apparently made. But this is only for today so be quick as supplies are limited.

Gaming on a Budget: Elite Beat Agents & Rhythm Heaven

Elite Beat Agents
Price New: $11.22

Today, I present to you, two very highly regarded rhythm games on the Nintendo DS. Both released at $29.99, but they're now more than half-off that original pricing! I haven't played Rhythm Heaven, but I hear great things about it, and for Elite Beat Agents, well... if you have a DS and you haven't played EBA before... what is wrong with you? Get it now if you haven't!

Rhythm Heaven
Price New: $12.69

Gaming on a Budget: Fragile Dreams & Eternal Sonata

Fragile Dreams: Farewell Ruins of the Moon
Price New: $18.99

This is a game I've been wanting to try for a while now. From what I hear, it's a bit of a survival horror, but very unique. There's a lot of exploration as well. I may try to get this game myself in the near future.

Eternal Sonata
Price New (360): $13.92
Price New (PS3): $16.99

If you can get past the unskippable cutscenes in this, I've heard that this is can be a pretty lengthy, and high-quality JRPG.

Gaming on a Budget: Resident Evil Archives & Resident Evil 4 Wii

Resident Evil Archives: Resident Evil
Price New: $12.72

This week, I'm featuring two Resident Evil games for the Wii. This first game is a port of the remake on Gamecube of the original Resident Evil. I've heard that the controls are a bit wonky, but they are tolerable, and if you haven't played the remake, that this would be a great introduction to the franchise if you wanted to know where Resident Evil started.

Resident Evil 4
Price New: $11.04

This next game is something that I think everyone should play, whether they like the franchise or not. Resident Evil 4 has been claimed as one of the best games of last generation, and this port of it to the Wii has a fantastic control scheme. If you have not played Resident Evil 4 before, I would recommend buying this since it's so cheap right now. If you like action titles, this is definitely for you, the pacing of this game is perfect, it barely slows down at all.

Gaming on a Budget: A Boy and His Blob & LittleBigPlanet

A Boy and His Blob
Price New: $13.90

A very beautifully designed game with a cutesy look. Any game that has a 'hug' button has to be good, right? If you're a fan of puzzle platformers, I'd suggest getting this.

LittleBigPlanet - Game of the Year Edition Playstation 3
Price New: $22.99

Don't have enough to get LittleBigPlanet 2 yet, but haven't played the first? Well, this edition comes with all of the DLC released for the first, and you can get your feet wet with the first level designer rather than plunging right into the massive scope of LBP 2.

Gaming on a Budget: Dead Space & Muramasa: The Demon Blade

Dead Space Platinum Hits Edition
Price New: $19.34

Dead Space is quite a ride. I rented it a while back and played it all the way through, and I love it. I've yet to play Dead Space 2, but if you were ever interested in the series, pick this up.

Muramasa: The Demon Blade
Price New: $12.96

This is a game Ink ordered not to long ago, and from what he says, it's a pretty amazing game, both visually and gameplay-wise.

Gaming on a Budget: Little King's Story & Retro Game Challenge

The two games featured today, I actually ordered from Amazon recently. I still haven't gotten them in, but I'm patiently awaiting them. (Though I probably won't have much time to play them due to Pokemon at the moment.)

Little King's Story
Price New: $23.99

I don't know too much about the game, just that it has similarities with Pikmin, and that interested me. The game is published by XSEED who is known for publishing quirky titles like this one, and...

Retro Game Challenge
Price New: $13.99

This one! Any fan of classic games should own this, which is why I ordered it. Pandereus in the second Negative World podcast explained it as one of the 'overlooked' games we talked about in it. (My game was Deadly Creatures.) If I'm not too busy with Pokemon in the next week, I'll definitely be playing some of this.

Gaming on a Budget: Mad World & Bayonetta

I mentioned last week that I'll be putting Amazon links in my posts and starting a monday feature with those. Well, this is it! It's called 'Gaming on a Budget,' where I show you games that you can buy new from Amazon that have gone done in price significantly. This week, I'll be presenting two games from an awesome developer that has risen in the past couple of years: Platinum Games.

MadWorld
Price New: $7.29

The first of these games is MadWorld, a Wii exclusive that features fantastic Sin City styled visuals, fun beat-em-up gameplay, and top-notch lowbrow humor. You play as Jack, a contestant in a violent game show called DeathWatch, and your job is to take out enemies and bosses as well as completing certain tasks in order to complete the stage. Nearly every action you do is commented on by the two announcers of the show, voiced by John DiMaggio and Greg Proops. This is especially apparent in the Bloodbath Challenge minigames, such as Man Darts (using a baseball bat to smash people into a giant target. It's more awesome than it sounds.). It's a little repetitive and very much on the short side, but well worth the price.

(Thanks!)

Bayonetta
Bayonetta (360)
Price New: $15.49
Bayonetta (PS3)
Price New: $23.48

Bayonetta was on my list of my personal top 10 games of 2010, and for good reason. It's jam-packed with constant action and a sexy main character. Bayonetta has been the topic of many debates about how women are represented in gaming, but the fact still remains: she kicks ass. The game has an excellent pace and it's a fun ride all the way through, and at the price it is now, there's no excuse not to own it. Unless of course... Bayonetta isn't your thing, I'm just saying... it's really good.

New Pokemon Black and White DSi Bundles

Special Edition Pokémon Black Nintendo DSi Bundle (Nintendo DSi)Special Edition Pokémon White Nintendo DSi Bundle (Nintendo DSi)

Nintendo is celebrating the release of Pokemon Black and White by releasing these new limited edition DSi bundles. They'll be coming out on March 6th when the game releases. To be honest, if I had the money to get one of these bundles, I'd jump on it, since I don't foresee myself getting a 3DS any time in the near future, and I haven't yet experienced the features of the DSi. Anyway, if you're interested in pre-ordering one of these bundles, you can do so by clicking the Amazon links* I've provided on this post... or if Amazon isn't your thing, check out the other providers of pre-orders in this link.

*I'll be putting a few more Amazon links in my posts now because of being part of the Amazon associates program. I've been a part of it since November, but haven't utilized it on the site yet. I won't use them in literally everything, but only in certain cases. For example, if a bundle like this is announced, I'll make a post about it, and I was thinking of making a weekly post on Mondays starting next week about a game I find on Amazon that has gone down in price. Anyway, I hope that these Amazon links won't be too intrusive on the regular posts. They shouldn't be... I mean- okay, I'm rambling now, you can stop reading the footnote.
